The project

DIY maternity is a project to create great DIY ideas, tips, tutorials & sewing patterns for making your own maternity and nursing wear.

Pregnancy is a beautiful special time that should be celebrated! Every woman deserves to feel gorgeous during this time, but unfortunately a lot of the maternity wear out there is frumpy, unflattering, expensive and often doesn’t even work for its designed purpose. You may decide you want to make your own, in which case finding good tutorials, sewing patterns and ideas is often frustrating and fruitless.

DIY maternity aims to change that. It’s not hard to alter your existing wardrobe to accommodate your baby bump, or create your own maternity wear from scratch. So if you’re looking for tips, tutorials, patterns & DIY ideas for creating your own maternity wear – then you’ve come to the right place! Welcome!

The Girl

DIY maternity is a project by pattern designer and mother of 3 Megan Nielsen.

Megan has her own clothing line (featuring women’s and maternity wear) and a line of maternity & nursing patterns, aimed at helping other women create their own stylish maternity wear.

If you’d like to learn more about Megan, you can visit her website or her design diary blog.

    Hi, Megan!

I love your site and think the styles you’ve designed are so flattering! I wish more women would dress this nicely when they’re expecting.

I publish a parenting site called TheSandboxKids.com ( http://thesandboxkids.com/ ) which has articles and videos about babies and children under 5. Since you deal with pregnancy and I with the first few years following it, I was hoping we might be able to boost each other’s SEO by linking to one another’s sites. Please check mine out and let me know if this is agreeable to you. Thanks!
