The Tied Maternity Top Tutorial by Jessica of Happy Together

My name is Jessica from Happy Together :)
Today I have the pleasure of sharing a little DIY Maternity Refashion with you. I’m currently preggers with girl #2 and have been having so much fun creating maternity wear. Living in an area where there isn’t much to begin with (as far as maternity clothing), really spurred me on to be a little creative this pregnancy with my clothing. In this post, I’m going to show you how I created this top from a thrift store dress.
The Lulu Dress and Top *FREE PATTERN*

I am so excited to announce that I will be making my Lulu dress and top pattern available for free from now on!!
How cool is that?! I love this pattern so much and I hope you do too!! Since it’s created with rows of shirring it’s perfect for throughout your pregnancy and beyond!
The Grecian Maternity Maxi dress

I really love how this dress turned out!! Sometimes I think it’s good to look at non-maternity clothing to get inspiration for maternity wear – and the other day when I saw this dress from Jcrew I thought it would make a great maternity dress with a few changes. Like an empire waist instead of natural waistline – and elastic instead of drawstring.
And this is what I arrived at! Cute hey?? And it was so ridiculously easy! A great beginner project!

Sweet & Simple Maternity & 4th Trimester Skirt, by Leah of Leafie
![]()
Hello there! First of all, thanks for having me Meg! I’m Leah, and I blog (when I get a chance) over at Leafie. I’m a mommy to 2 beautiful silly little girls, ages 3 and 9 months. By day I work a full time job as a nurse practitioner, but by night I can usually be found sewing (mostly clothes for myself but also some for my girls, as well as home-dec), crafting, or scheming up some house project for my hubby.
Today I am happy to share with you a maternity skirt I made when I was pregnant last summer. I was determined to make as many maternity items as I could so that I could tailor them to my body, and also make them versatile enough to be able to wear post-partum. This skirt was so easy I made 5… and wore them all. the. time. I made up a tutorial so you all can play along… and live in them this summer too! Here’s the finished product:
The Deep Vee Nursing & Maternity Tunic

How cute is this top? Sometimes I really love it when clothing can serve double duty – by which I mean, works when you’re pregnant and once you’re baby is born. Since this top has a nice low neckline, you can wear a normal tank top or cami under it when you’re pregnant (or even a crop top, that’s what i did!) and then a nursing tank (or one of these) once your baby is born.
Even better, it takes about 10 minutes to make. I promise!!!
