Made Megan Nielsen’s ruched shirt pattern with a floral touch

Apr 16, 2012
by Liz
Hi gals! Lizzie here from cotton & curls….I’ve always had a hard time purchasing maternity clothes because of two things; the fit and the lack of creativity. That is why making maternity clothes is SO much better than purchasing them!! You can customize – make smaller or bigger, make lower or higher or what have you. For me….I wanted some floral flare and with Megan Nielsen’s ruched maternity pattern, I was set to have a darling top. It only required 3 pieces and a few instructions, easier than I thought! Hmmmm….wouldn’t it be cute as a dress too?

Button up Babydoll Maternity top

Oct 18, 2011
by Meg

A little while ago I found this pretty pale pink mens shirt in the thrift store – I loved the colour so much, and wanted to make something really pretty with it. I’m a huge fan of babydoll dresses and tops as maternity wear, so I thought why not try something similar with a button up? And so the Button up Babydoll top was born!

I love how it turned out and I think it’s sooooo cute! Definitely a maternity staple – so let’s make one!

Ribbon tied maternity top

Oct 6, 2011
by Meg

Hi lovely ladies!!

I’ve been getting some requests for some super easy beginner level maternity creations – and I think this one fits the bill perfectly! I really love how it turned out. It takes a rather boring tshirt and makes it into something really flattering and super cute. I just love projects where a small amount of effort makes a huge difference!

Okay, lets make one!

Maternity Top Tutorial, with Jenn of a Jennuine Life

Sep 1, 2011

Hello there, DIY maternity readers! I am super excited to be visiting here. I’m Jenn from A Jennuine Life. A while back, I hosted my first blog competition, and Megan honored my little blog with both an inspiration post, and a prize offering - amazing, right!?

When Megan put out the call for a little help, I jumped on the opportunity to return the favor! Here’s a post I put together as part of my Mother to Be, Being, Been competition which focused on DIY fashions for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum Moms.

This top is just such a winner. I love it so much that it’s one of the few things that I made as maternity wear, but still wear now. I think you gals are really going to like it!

How to turn a cardigan into a cropped cardigan

Jul 5, 2011
by Meg

I’m a huge fan of cropped cardigans. Like, HUGE! hehe. I just think they’re such a useful thing to have in your wardrobe, especially when you’re pregnant. I love that can completely change the look of an outfit, and i love cropped ones because they sit so nicely above your baby bump! Wearing a normal cardigan can be kind of awkward when you’re pregnant, and a lot of maternity ones, just look, kind of odd (you know?!). The other thing i like is that they’re not as hot as normal cardigans, so you can wear them in summer… and when you’re nursing (maybe over one of these!)

That’s why a cropped cardigan is the perfect solution!

Even better, you can make one from an old or thrifted cardigan. Lets do it!

The Tied Maternity Top Tutorial by Jessica of Happy Together

Jun 13, 2011

My name is Jessica from Happy Together :)

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a little DIY Maternity Refashion with you. I’m currently preggers with girl #2 and have been having so much fun creating maternity wear. Living in an area where there isn’t much to begin with (as far as maternity clothing), really spurred me on to be a little creative this pregnancy with my clothing. In this post, I’m going to show you how I created this top from a thrift store dress.
