Maternity Yoga Skirt, with Jennifer of Monkey see Monkey Do

May 1, 2011

Hello! My name is Jennifer and my little blog is called Monkey See, Monkey Do! I really like to do frugal sewing projects. I think sewing can be expensive but I try to find ways to cut costs but still make fun things.
Since I’m expecting my second child (28 weeks in the picture), I’ve started making some maternity clothing. I love skirts and wanted to share this tutorial for making a yoga maternity skirt. Visit my blog for more maternity ideas and other sewing project tutorials.
I posted a yoga skirt tutorial last summer, found here at my blog. The yoga skirt I made last summer had a a full, gathered skirt. I did not hem the bottom. I felt it turned out a little hippie-ish for my style and taste. I wanted to make a flat front version to help boost my maternity wardrobe now and also my summer wardrobe after I have the baby!

I love this top soooo much! The second I had the idea for it I got really excited – but to be honest, it turned out even better than I’d hoped! It even looks this cute when you’re not pregnant, which in my book is a total plus!

Maternity dress trousers by Ann of Sew Paradise

Apr 15, 2011

Hi everyone! I’m Ann from Sew Paradise and I’m a big fan of Megan Nielsen’s maternity & nursing patterns. I’m geeked she said she’d post my tute about DIY maternity dress trousers here. Most working moms need a professional wardrobe, and even a SAHMama needs a rockin’ pair of something other than jeans. These easy maternity dress trousers are inexpensively made from thrifted regular trousers, have a super comfy stretch fabric waistband that curves to snug your belly. I’m a big fan of purpose-suited clothing, so I loved sewing during both of my pregnancies. The top is Megan Nielsen’s Pina Nursing & Maternity top with long sleeves which works wonderfully after your baby is born as a nursing top – my 10-month old loves it!

Maternity Empire Waist Dress by Maggie of Smashed Peas and Carrots

Apr 9, 2011
Hi everyone *waves*!  I’m Maggie from the blog Smashed Peas and Carrots.  I am super thrilled to be visiting DIY maternity today!  When I was pregnant with my #3 last summer (who is now my crazy crawling little 8 month old girl named Eloise!) I was just itching to wear pretty, airy dresses in the hot and sticky summer humidity.  This dress fit the bill perfectly.  To make it I upcycled an old tank shirt which allowed me to breathe some new life into some of my closet cast-offs, it makes me love this dress even more!
