Thanks so much for this tutorial. I made it this morning and am having a little trouble getting it to drape nicely on my slightly larger body. I'm in my second pregnancy and still have some extra on my hips and back from #1. I also am just a bit larger in my frame. So - my elastic was cut to 38 in instead of your 30. I think sticking with the 58in width caused problems so that the gather doesn't go all the way around and the fullness I need just isn't there. Most long skirts I wear are wrap with a lot of fullness, so they are wedge shaped to begin. This is the first time I attempted a straight cut skirt.

My question is this: Do you think that I should simply place another panel of fabric in at the seem to make the whole thing wider (go from the 58in fabric width to say 70) or should I place in a wedge shaped panel down the leg to flare it at the bottom? If I do add a wedge, could I do it on one side only or would I need to add a second seem on the other leg? I don't have enough experience with patterns to know which would be more flattering and if the asymmetry would throw it off.

Thanks for any help!

this tutorial is completely awesome. i can't wait to try it. one question: it doesn't seem like you adjusted the front to make it longer so that it covers the bump--it's the same length all around, right? i just want to make sure i'm not missing something. thanks again!

Can I tell you that I have looked over MANY tutorials for maxi skirts that deal with elastic waist bands and I've never heard of slipping it into the fabric! SO BRILLIANT! You have no idea how much frustration (and time and measuring!) at my machine you have just saved me! I will be making one of these tonight to wear to a shower on Sunday. It's been 90+ degrees where I am, so this will surely be comfortable in a nice light jersey fabric.

Thanks again :)
