Meet my newest sewing pattern – the Lulu dress and top! I’m sure by now, you guys all know how much I love versatile clothing? Though my line of sewing patterns began purely to provide maternity patterns (since there seem to be no good ones anywhere) – I’m also trying to provide some styles that work for any woman, no matter what her stage of life.
That’s the idea behind this dress (and the last pattern I released). It’s a shirred dress (and top) pattern, that will work for almost any stage in life – including pregnant women (but not exclusively for pregnant women -if that makes sense!). I really love this dress! This version is a tiered maxi dress, with braided shoulder straps that meet in a V at the empire waist. In fact I made this sample extra long for my sister-in-law since she can never find maxi dresses the right length!
The pattern includes full instructions for a tiered maxi dress, knee length dress, standard top and maternity length top. Though the example I used is for sizes XS-L, it also provides details on how to make a dress for any size – how cool is that?! I actually wore the top version a few days ago – and as I did last time I released a pattern I’ll be having a giveaway for one of the samples in a few days, so stay tuned!
