Men’s top into striped maternity shirt

¬†Ever since I did this pencil skirt post a year ago, I’ve been dying to do a shirt version….maybe a dress version will be the next step? Anyway, I LOVE how it turned out and it currently might be one of my favorite tops to date! And you don’t have to have a huge belly to wear it. Woot woot!

New miss a post!

That is a really cute top, but the instructions are so garbled as to make them practically useless.

I’ve read it through three times, and between the odd grammar (for example, “Then 1 or 2 cut 5?-6? sections of the white top…”) and the bits that have no context (“Cut the ribbing out and sew it closed…” er, what ribbing?) it’s incredibly confusing. Add to that the lack of concordance between the numbered instructions and the number-less photos… and it amounts to (for me, anyway)… hunh?

I’m sorry about the few grammatical errors…I fixed that right up! It can be so hard writing these tedious tutorials out with a 2 year old climbing all over me, or sometimes I just don’t double check my work because this whole entry took hours with the making of the shirt, tutorial and product pictures, the edit and publish. So phew! My editor (mom) usually checks it for me, but I didn’t have time with this one.

The ribbing is that different looking knit piece from a tee shirt’s collar. So when you cut the ribbing out of the shirt’s neckline, it makes this long stretchy folded piece. You sew the ribbing’s ends together to make a circle of ribbing. Then when that ribbing is sewn to the collar, it makes the collar not saggy or roll out because the ribbing tightens the neckline up. If you don’t like the ribbing, then sew under the neckline a 1/2″.

I hope that helps :) Other than that, I think this is a pretty basic tutorial and pretty easy to understand. Let me know if there is anything else confusing, I can explain it better.

AJ, you are rude! If you didn’t understand then go to another site. Why try to down someone? If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!!! If you can’t figure out how to make a shirt without instructions, you shouldn’t be trying to use instructions!
