The Lulu Dress and Top *FREE PATTERN*

May 31, 2011

I am so excited to announce that I will be making my Lulu dress and top pattern available for free from now on!!

How cool is that?! I love this pattern so much and I hope you do too!! Since it’s created with rows of shirring it’s perfect for throughout your pregnancy and beyond!

There are so many great variations! You can make a top, a dress or a tiered maxi! Here are some that I’ve made

  • Thanks Megan,
I don’t think I will be pregnant long enough to try how this works as maternity wear (only a few weeks to go), but it looks great for next summer here in Sydney.

    • Thanks Christine!! It definitely works well as non maternity wear :) All the photos of me above are non-preggers snaps :)

  • I love your designs. I havent had a Baby yet, but do one day hope soon that I will. I like that your patterns are simple and easy and that I can make them for when your pregnant or not. For me I have been sewing since I was 10 years old but still learning I like how every thing is explained step by step with lots of pics.

    • Thank you so much Brittany!! It makes my day to hear such lovely feedback!!! XOXO

  • Thanks Meghan for making this one free! I RT’d this to my friends, some of whom sew (some I’m trying to convince). I will totally make the maxi and tunic versions – also I have one I bought years ago at a beach store (tunic length), wore it preggers, wore it nursing, and it also makes a fine skirt as well, a nice double-duty garment!

  • Hi Megan,

Totally love your tiered lulu! It so reminds me of the Valentino dress Julia Roberts wore to the Oscars.. Modern, yet so vintage! Just wondering whether the pattern can be modified to be a skirt instead of a dress?

  • I’m pregnant and I was googling for some easy maternity patterns. I love the look of this pattern. The maxi dress is very similar to one I bought last summer and love to wear.

I am heading to the store for fabric this morning, I plan to make the maxi tiered dress and a top to start with.

I wonder if the top would work with some shirring at the bottom to pull it in under the belly? I might try it, and will report back if I do.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas.
